Reinhardt Stanley
Acting Head of Department and Lecturer
Hotelier with over 20 years
experience in the hospitality industry. Over the span of his career he has
worked for both smaller, high end silver service hotels to 5 star corporate
international hotel brands in various countries such as Germany, Austria,
South Africa and a few others. Reinhardt is a keen wine enthusiast which is why
he pursued a qualification in wine from the Cape Wine Academy after studying
hotel management. Reinhardt holds numerous certifications in the related fields
of management including managing high performance teams. He has recently served
on a technical work group with the NTA directed to revising the VTC curriculum
for hospitality in Namibia. He has joined the team as part-time lecturer of
several subjects after a long operational career holding senior positions such
as Hotel General Manager and Collection Manager.
Leon Hatton-Jones
Lecturer and Executive Chef
“Leon is an acclaimed local chef who has
received numerous accolades for his cuisine including a winning the Prawn festival
Fine Dinning Competition in 2010, out of 25 hotels in the Durban Area. Leon
loves also taking part in local competitions to improve the quality of local
food and enthusiastic towards training junior chefs.
Leon was destined to make a name for himself as an
international chef when he was singled out as trainee of the year
whilst completing his in-service training with Gate Gourmet after obtaining a Diploma in Professional
Cookery from City and Guilds.
After completing his apprenticeship
training he spent the next 16 years working for some of South Africa’s finest
hotels;Sous chef Gate Gourmet, Head
chef at Mount Currie Inn, Senior Sous Chef at Alpine Heath, Senior Sous Chef at
the Royal Hotel Durban, Executive Chef at Exquisite Cuisine, Executive Chef at
Park Inn by Radisson, Executive Chef at Intercontinental OR Tambo, Hilton
Windhoek and Intercontinental Fiji.
Wanting to expand his culinary knowledge
internationally, Leon travelled Europe and Asia, for six months. It was during
this period that he gained valuable experience in food and wine promotions and
exhibitions.
Leon prides himself on his ability to
adapt easily to different kinds of cuisines. This ability has been honed
through his travels abroad, and working in 5-star establishments, Leon also ran
the world renowned Royal Grill situated in the Royal Hotel Durban, it was voted
one of the ten best restaurants for fine dinging and silver service in south
Africa that year. Leon had many great write ups from various food critics.
During his tenure at Exquisite Cuisine there he
was appointed as an accredited judge for the South African Chefs Association
Level two, which gave him the advantage of knowing exactly what was expected in
culinary competitions. This knowledge stood him in good stead when he competes’
in competitions and food demonstrations. Leon is also one of 17 Judges in
Africa that has a WACS accredited diploma for judging at the Culinary Olympics.
Leon says he is inspired by fresh
uncomplicated food: “I believe in serving excellent quality food, with minimum preparation in order to extract the
natural flavours – experimenting with flavours is equally as important.”
With his vast culinary knowledge,
international experience and indefatigable enthusiasm, Leon brings his much-admired
culinary skills to the Hilton menus, and would like to give the cuisinea revival at Hilton Addis Ababa, by
introducing a new concept of Fusion Poke bowls.
Mattie Otto
Lecturer
He joins WHCC as a Part-time Lecturer: Organisational Behaviour, based in Windhoek,
Namibia. Presently tutoring Introduction to Human Resources Management at NUST.
I was recently appointed as a member of the Programme Advisory Committee (PAC)
for the Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management programme. I am currently
managing the Human Resource portfolio at SASSCAL Regional Office as Human
Resources Officer and have oversight responsibility for human resource
management in the partner countries. Prior to joining SASSCAL, Mattie worked as
a Senior Human Resources Officer at the National Youth Service, at the Office
of the Auditor-General, Namibia, in the Department of Human Resources, as a
Human Resources Practitioner and at the Ministry of Labour, Industrial
Relations, and Employment Creation in Namibia as a Senior Labour Inspector. In
totality, I possess close to nine years of experience in the HR industry.
Qualification-wise, I possess a Master of Science in Human Resources Management
and Training with Leicester, United Kingdom. Bachelor's Degree and National Diploma
in Human Resources Management both from Polytechnic of Namibia (Now Namibia
University of Science and Technology).
Rosemary Monye
Lecturer
Rosemary’s hospitality journey started with the hotel school at NUST (then Polytechnic of
Namibia). She has also obtained a Master’s in International Hospitality
Management from the University Center Cesar Ritz, Brig,
Switzerland. Rosemary has worked for major hotel groups such as the Grand
Hyatt in Atlanta, USA, Protea and Hilton Hotels both in Windhoek. Her areas of
specialty are thee front office, service quality and training and development.
She has also worked as a part time lecturer at the hotel school at
NUST. She currently works for one of the Big Four accounting firms and has
a passion for baking and cake decorating.
Lydia Naanda
Admin officer
Lydia with her enthusiastic and hard-working nature started her career as a debt administrator and escalated on to serve in other diverse positions as a legal assistant, executive assistant and now an administrative officer. She studied at Varsity College, Cape Town South Africa where she obtained a certificate in business principles and practice before she went on to do her Bcom degree in Marketing.
Lydia serves as the Administrative Officer responsible for providing and maintaining excellent administrative support to WHCC staff. Coordinating, distributing information and ensuring that students are kept current of necessary college information.
Paulina Kanime
IT Support Engineer
Paulina joined WHCC as an IT Support Engineer in 2020. She has vigorously applied her
skills and knowledge to 7 years of experience in areas of Technology and
Computer Software Application. She started her IT career as a Software
Developer and IT Support intern in 2017. She has worked and spearhead
over 4 projects including School Management Systems, Point of Sales, Wifi
Projects and Immunisation Notification System in which she developed and is
Co-founder of known operating system health264.com and
is still currently operating today. Paulina graduated with Bachelor of
Informatics in 2018, from the Namibia University of Science and Technology
(NUST), before she went on to do her Honors degree majoring in Business Informatics
from the same University and she graduated with her second degree in June 2021.
Vendelinus Anyala
Instructor
Currently, Vendelinus Anyala is the teaching instructor at Windhoek Hospitality & Culinary College
(WHCC) in Windhoek. He is a married Namibian young male, having graduated from the Namibia
University of Science & Technology-NUST (formerly known as Polytechnic of Namibia) in the year
2000 where he acquired his national qualification in Hospitality Management and possess over 2
decades of experience in the hospitality industry. He served at different management levels in
different establishments of the industry including being a Trainer, General Manager, Operations
Manager, Front Office Manager, Executive Housekeeper to mention but a few. He is also an NTA
national mentor and assessor (including RPL) with a certificate acquired through COOL-IDEAS a
South African-based institution.
Mr. Anyala is a very passionate teacher and strongly believe in a statement that; "education is the
key to success"
Hirodina Sangunji
Culinary Arts Instructor
My passion for cooking started when I was very young cooking food with my Mom.
My journey of cooking started at Nice Restaurant. I Started off as a student. Learning all the basic skills culinary arts could offer. From cutting, to basic stocks and sauces, basic desserts and pastry. and later on mastering the fine Art of culinary. It's been a great journey experiencing the fine dinning Cuisine with Chef Tinus. Later on I thought of further my studies at Nust Hotel School to acquire more knowledge and Skills.
I went on gaining experience in various hotels, and Restaurants such as the Safari hotel, Wolvedans lodge, Peppercorn Restaurant and Many other.Having the passion for food I have master the arts of Sushi working for Cape Town fish market, when they open. Now I have joined the training industry being an Instructor at African Hospitality and Tourism VTC. Having joined WHCC am looking forward to a greater journey to share the Skills and knowledge I have acquired through out the years, to share with the youth and instills the Arts and passion of food, locally and internationally.
